During the latter stages of my yoga teacher training and over the Summer, I ran donation-based yoga classes on Queen Square in Bristol and 73 Degrees bike shop in Keynsham. Through my students’ generous donations, we raised a whopping £360. These funds will be used to support the following charities and community organisations:
- Costa Rica Animal Rescue Centre – Dedicated to protecting and helping endangered Costa Rican wildlife.
- Motor Neurone Disease Scotland – Provides care and support to people affected by MND (including my friend, Ruth Williamson, pictured). MNDS also carries out vital research into finding a cure such as through its MIROCALS project.
- Bristol Bike Project – Community bike project repairing and relocating unwanted bikes, helping people from all walks of life get out on two wheels.
It has been an absolute privilege to tun these classes over the past six months. Applying my newly learnt teaching skills to support such worthy causes. I will be keeping in touch with these organisations on how the funds are used. I will also continue to look for opportunities to work with similar organisations where I can do yoga for good.
