YogaDad on the BBC

It’s been an impressive few months at YogaDad HQ on the media front. Sky News started the ball rolling with a prime-time interview to mark International Men’s Day. Being filmed demonstrating yoga with one of my male students felt pretty surreal. The stars of the show were the YogaTwins, who took it in their stride pushing wooden trains around.

Kylie Pentelow from ITV News then saw one of our eye catching Yoga for Cyclists posters in Mud Dock, Bristol and got in touch for an interview. Kylie is so passionate about yoga and I loved  being part of her esteemed Yoga Stories podcast series. The icing on the cake being that Kylie joined me on the mat for my lunchtime chair and wall-based yoga class.

The hat-trick of media giants was then completed with the BBC getting in touch to request a radio interview. I received such a warm welcome from the BBC Radio Bristol team and this really helped put me at ease. I even practiced a few tried & tested chair-based poses and breathing techniques in the waiting room to get in the right mindset.

John Darvall is the daytime DJ and being a fellow father of multiple children, we had a lot in common. We talked about topics such as the changing role of a man once a child is  born and the impact this can have on their health & wellbeing. How yoga has helped me adapt to this, and reclaim my identity as both a yoga teacher and positive role model.  I also provide a few nuggets of YogaDad wisdom I apply on and off the mat to keep calm.

The stream of the interview can be found on the BBC Radio website at the below link starting at 2 hour 11 minutes. The interview lasts about 15 minutes, and includes a suitably stonking Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus track as an interlude to the interview.

For any future media enquiries, do not hesitate to get in touch. I am very happy to talk about a range of topics such as yoga, mindful parenting, men’s health and wellbeing.
