Those that have been following me for a while now will likely recall my Tour De Yoga in 2018. To coincide with the Tour De France, I filmed yoga poses to coincide with each stage of Le Tour. I posted these on my YouTube channel and they complemented the yoga for cyclist classes I was running at 73 Degrees bike shop in Keynsham, Bristol at the time.
For the 2019 edition of the Tour De Yoga, I am taking things a step further by filming short (5 – 15 minute) sequences focusing on specific themes that will of interest to cyclists, guided my areas of commonly held tension. For example, seated sequences that support neck and shoulder releases, and standing sequences with hip opening lunges.
I will continue to film the sequences outdoors this year, looking for settings that best showcase all that Keynsham, Bristol and beyond have to offer in the great outdoors. I plan to film three classes (stages) each week, and these will be free to access on my YouTube channel and promoted through my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
Whatever your reason for cycling, whether it’s for commuting, leisure or more competitive pursuits these classes are designed for you. If you suffer with issues such as a sore neck, lower pack pain, restricted space across the hips or tight hamstrings, these bitesized classes will equip you the tools that ultimately make for more enjoyable rides.
My face-to-face outdoor yoga for cyclist classes continue throughout the summer from week commencing 15th July. Weather permitting, every Wednesday classes take place on Queen Square, central Bristol (12.15 – 1pm) and Keynsham Park (7 – 8pm). All abilities are welcome, some mats are provided with a donation each week to the Bristol Bike Project.
