One of the things I love the most about my Yoga For Men classes in Bristol is the community feel that runs through its veins. I love being able to offer something unique to my local community. I equally love how the local community has embraced what I’m doing, too.
I want men to feel comfortable doing yoga. Not just as we move through the different shapes we create on the mat. More so that they feel as though they’re part of a family from the moment they set foot in the room.
I’ve lost count of the number of men who have contacted me and almost apologise for how inflexible they are. I’ve learnt the importance of putting them at ease; reassuring them that they’re not alone; and amongst a group of like-minded men.
To illustrate this, for anyone new that joins, before I start the class, I invite everyone to say their name as part of a warm welcome to the new joiner. This simple gesture paves the way for new connections that often, by the end of the class opens up many conversations.
It’s special to experience this first hand. So, if you’re reading this, unsure whether my Yoga For Men classes are for you, drop me a line. I’m happy to have a chat any time. Better still, book onto one of my classes – my opening night in Saltford on Thursday, 3rd March is free. What have you got to lose?
